How Does Case Law Shape Civil Law Systems? An Analysis of Spanish Administrative Courts

Abstract The paper explores the use of case law by Spanish administrative courts. Based on a database 2964 sentences, content analysis captures integration into legal basis court rulings. Even though is not listed as source in system, courts follow from either same sentencing (self-referential pattern) or higher (hierarchical pattern). results logistic regression point to level regulatory complexity and configuration appellate procedures incentives integrate courts’ law.
